Welding and Metallurgical Engineering Consultant for Saudi Aramco

Mr. Sayee Raghunathan is an experienced, commercially focused technocrat, with specialization in the manufacturing and the energy sectors, as well as having experience across the entire product lifecycle and technology readiness spectrum. As a welding and metallurgical engineering consultant for Saudi Aramco, in Saudi Arabia he is engaged in, amongst other things, materials selection consultations, run-repair-replace evaluations for assets, and high-level studies and investigations. Until recently, he volunteered as a non-executive director of the American Welding Society (AWS), as the Chair of the Product Development Committee (PDC) and as a member of four other committees. Before Saudi Aramco, he worked as an Associate Director at TWI, Cambridge, UK and as a visiting professor for the Dalton Institute of Manchester University. He was awarded the Counselor status by the AWS in 2022, the Lidstone Medal in 2012 and is a Fellow of eight UK professional institutes including the Welding Institute, Nuclear Institute, Energy Institute, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Corrosion and IOM3. He actively volunteers for education, professional development and technology advancement causes.

Dr. Hua Yong is a Senior Engineer and PhD supervisor. He currently holds a position at Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals Co., Ltd., in Huzhou, China. Dr. Hua graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bradford in 2009 and later graduated his master at the University of Sheffield in 2010. In 2015, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Leeds, UK. Having returned to China in 2022, he now has over 10 years of research experience in the field of corrosion. Dr. Hua’s research primarily focuses on material integrity and selection in harsh environments, such as carbon capture and storage (CCS), oil and gas industries, hydrogen embrittlement, deep-sea and deep-earth applications, and the semiconductor sectors. His work encompasses corrosion prediction, in-situ corrosion design, high-precision tubing, and surface treatment. Dr. Hua is a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and has served as the Chair of the TEG 121X Supercritical Corrosion Subcommittee in the U.S. He also chaired the High-Temperature and High-Pressure Subcommittee at the UK Corrosion and Science Symposium. Dr. Hua has led or participated in over 25 international and national projects. He has published over 70 SCI/EI papers, 10 patents, and has one software copyright.

Hervé Marchebois has a Ph.D. in electrochemistry and corrosion. He started his career working as corrosion and Risk based Inspection engineer for both downstream and upstream environments. Then, he moved to a steel making company as research head manager of a corrosion and surface treatment department, in charge of developing sour service grades as the main activity. Hervé currently works with TotalEnergies since more than 10 years as materials and corrosion specialist. He ovesees the metallic materials selection, research and innovation and the update of company guides and manuals and specifications. Hervé also serves as vice-chair of NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 maintenance Panel among other activities.
