I am delighted to have been chosen to stand as Chairperson for Stainless Steel World Conference 2022, which is now already in its twelfth edition. The world certainly looks a little different to our last event in 2019, but thanks to the efforts of a great community, the planning and enthusiasm for this year’s conference and expo continues, perhaps moreso than ever.
We have a superb Steering Committee which has worked tirelessly to bring together an enriching and varied conference programme. I’d like to thank each member for their expertise, industry knowledge, and their time. Your inputs to the online Committee meetings have been invaluable and are demonstrated in the quality of this year’s programme.
And what a programme it is! It is no exaggeration to say that the Stainless Steel World Conference 2022 promises big things, made even more special by the reality that this may well be one of the first in-person events of the year for our community. Topics range from industry staples such as welding, corrosion, and duplex, to the exploration of new developments in additive manufacturing, stainless steel applications, and sustainable energies. I am looking forward to interesting discussions generated by the great array of speakers and to continuing these talks in the Stainless Steel World Evening Social on Wednesday Evening.
With a keen ear to the ground, myself and the Stainless Steel World Steering Committee are dedicated to bringing our community together in an informative and enlightening event. But we are also committed to doing so in a safe environment and will ensure all necessary health and hygiene precautions are taken in conjunction with local government advice.
Hosted in our ever-trusted venue, the MECC in Maastricht, I am sure I speak on behalf of my fellow committee members in saying that we are so looking forward to welcoming you back to the home of Stainless Steel World Conference. Countless opportunities await you, whether they be in expanding your knowledge base, gaining new network connections, or simply reconnecting with old friends from across the stainless steel industry.
